Trivandrum: Four Keralites, deported from the Gulf for their suspected connections with Daesh, were on Tuesday detained by the security agencies at Trivandrum and Karipur airports and released after interrogation.
Two who arrived at the Trivandrum International Airport were questioned by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and the state intelligence, according to sources in the state intelligence.
The two others who arrived at Karipur airport were questioned by the NIA and state intelligence sleuths. Source said the agencies could not find any evidence regarding their alleged links with the terror outfit. However, the agencies are continuing their probe.
The four youths were among a group of Indians who were put under scanner for allegedly propagating Daesh ideology on the social media.
Muslim organisations in the state have taken a serious view of the development. One organisation, the Kerala Naduvathul Mujahideen, has launched an online campaign to deter youths from being lured by the Daesh.
A Cochin-based youth had lodged a complaint with the police that supporters of Daesh had tried to drag him into their group in WhatsApp. The youth hailing from the northern district of Kasargod said he had received several pro-Daesh messages, voice mail and even the Daesh flag in his WhatsApp account.
The Cyber wing of the Kerala police has launched an investigation into the complaint. A cyber wing official said they were trying to ascertain the source of the messages to pursue the matter further.
