Laila Al Jassim, Manager of Modhesh Fun City, said the workshop had been specially conceived not only to draw out and enhance the artistic skills in children, but also to boost their ability to work cooperatively with others.

“It teaches a very valuable social lesson,” said Al Jassim. “If kids can work together, exchange ideas, and cooperate with others at a young age, it will be great for our shared futures.”

One of the main thrusts of the workshop is the Paint by Numbers mural, where eight-to-ten-member teams compete against each other. Every child in the team receives a different piece of the mural with numbers corresponding to separate sections of the design, and the entire group has to work together to decide which colour will go with which number and make sure that the entire mural is cohesive.

“Every day, there is a new mural for the kids to colour - one day it could be Modhesh, another day another cartoon character, a shape, a landscape or an animal,” said Al Jassim. “That way, it’s always something fresh and exciting for the children to work on.”

The Fun Corner workshop is organised by colour giant ‘Crayola’, which will be providing all the necessary colour and art supplies to all participants in addition to prizes at the end of the workshop.

Modhesh Fun City is open from 10.00am to 10.00pm on weekdays, and from 3.00pm to 10.00pm on Fridays. The last day to visit the city is Friday, August 27, which is also the last day of the DSS 2004.
