The gang was headed by a GCC national while the remaining three members were from an Asian country. The Sharjah Police said it has been receiving several complaints from various shops and supermarkets located at various residential areas in the emirate.

It was noticed that the same technique was used to enter all shops. The air conditioner in each outlet was found to be pushed into the shop to enable easy entry.

A team was immediately formed by the Criminal Investigation Department to investigate into the robbery and to arrest the burglars before they can target another shop.

The police arrested one of the suspects who led them to his boss and other accomplices. The suspect confessed to robbing various shops located at various areas including Al Riqqa, Al Refaa, Al Suwaihat, Al Ramla and Wasit area.

A CID official explained: “We have learnt that the gang was headed by the GCC national who was planning the robberies. All the shops were burglarised during the late hours and the shopkeepers were shocked to find the shops with no money, the next morning.”

The official confirmed that all the four gang members are currently detained and will be referred to the public prosecution.
