German dentist proposes to girlfriend in Arabian setting
DUBAI — The organisers of the World Dental Federation (FDI) gala dinner at Bab Al Shams Resort on Friday evening were stumped by an usual request when a German delegate sought permission to use the romantic evening setting to propose to his long-time girlfriend.
“The German dentist, who did not wish to be named, said he wanted to propose to his girlfriend — also a dentist from Germany — who was attending the congress,” said the organisers.
“He requested us to allow him to use the very authentic Arabian setting that was made for the gala dinner to propose marriage to her. And to his delight and amusement of everyone present, she consented,” said the organiser. An eyewitness described the scene as very touching and romantic. “He proposed and she was on the verge of crying, but did not. It was nice to see a romantic couple very much in love.
“They later danced to the Arabian traditional music to seal the moment,” he remarked.
