DUBAI — The second birthday of Philcy was not a happy occasion for her family as, unfortunately, it proved to be the last day of her life as well.
Philcy died at Dubai hospital yesterday morning at 6.30, on the same day and strangely enough at the same time and same place where she was born two years ago.
Philcy, daughter of Philip and Ancy hailing from Pandalam in Kerala, was admitted to Dubai hospital on January 10, since she was suffering from viral diarrhoea. Initially her parents were hopeful that she would recover. “She was fine the very next day and doctors even told us they would discharge her soon. But, unexpectedly, she began to suffer from fits and soon lapsed into a coma in which state she remained for the last five days of her life,” said Philip, the father of the little girl.
He added that even when Philcy was lying in coma they were hopeful that she would survive. “We never thought she will die like this so early. We always had the hope that she will come out of it. But God decided to take her back. We still cannot accept the fact that she is no more with us,” said the grieved father.
The body of Philcy is to be embalmed at the Maktoum Hospital today and will be repatriated to India tomorrow in an Air India flight scheduled to leave at 12noon from Dubai to Trivandrum. Philip said that the last rites of his daughter will be performed at St Thomas Malankara Church, Kudassanad near Panthalam, the home town of her parents, on Friday.
Both Philip, who works for Macon Concrete Block company in Jebel Ali as a sales person, and Ancy, an Engineer with Access Consultancy, will accompany the body along with their sons, 4-year-old Phian and 2-month-old Alphin.
