Organised by the charitable trust, Care Foundation Pakistan Dubai Chapter, the high profile event titled “Care Relief Fundraiser and Summer Ball 2011” brought together nearly 350 people to help aid reconstruction of the areas hit by the floods that directly affected 20 million people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Punjab in Pakistan in July last year.
“People have forgotten the devastation caused by the floods,” said Sehr Amjad Ismail, Co-Founder/President at Care Foundation Pakistan Dubai Chapter. “This event was a reminder and a means to raise awareness and funds on the issue,” she said.
Sehr, however, did not disclose the amount raised at the event estimated to be in thousands of dirhams. VIP tables for 10 were priced at Dh 5,550 while regular tables also for 10 were priced at Dh4,250. Individuals could pay up to Dh425 for a ticket. Money was also raised in auctions.
“The event was attended by all the movers and shakers in Dubai including bankers and people from the Pakistan Professionals group,” explained Sehr.
The event was the fourth such fundraiser for the organisation that promised to bring together members of the Pakistan community to an evening full of glamour, substance and meaning. Attendees were treated to a 5 star dinner with cocktails followed by a live performance by internationally acclaimed singing band, The Vyas Bros. Care is an award winning charity registered at the Dubai Humanitarian City.
It has already held three similar fundraisers in Dubai namely a Black and White Ball for the Internationally Displaced Persons in the Northern Areas, a Winter Gala, and a Ball and Fashion Show featuring internationally acclaimed Pakistani designer Rizwan Beg.
