This will form the basis of future development strategies for Al Ain and guide all decision-making pertaining to the growth of Al Ain for the next quarter of a century.

Based on the Plan 2030 to be structured on the basis of the workshop involving global experts, the next steps to be adopted for the development of Al Ain City. The workshop will be held on November 20, and the Plan will be unveiled early next year.

The Urban Planning Council has been formed under the directive of the UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The UPC is chaired by General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the emirate’s Executive Council.

The Council’s membership has been designed to ensure that all government policy portfolios relevant to the Plan are represented.

The Plan Al Ain 2030 will identify new growth opportunities that reflect the overall vision of growth, provide guidance on civic plans, policies and programmes pertaining to infrastructure and transportation initiative.

The workshop will be led by a team of multi-disciplinary experts involving the world’s leading names in urban planning, architecture, engineering, and community development, who will be working closely with the concerned governmental authorities managed by the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council.

The participating members will conduct site visits, and create a draft proposal that will shape the policy framework.

An Urban Structure Framework Plan was created earlier this year for the City of Abu Dhabi so that the vision of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for the capital’s growth is realised in accordance with the wishes of late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Abu Dhabi is turned into a global destination.
