‘Globalisation is a threat to Arab identity’

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of a five-day training course for the workers in family guidance in the Arab countries, Dr Kaabi said that family guidance is crucial in solving the problems facing families through dialogue and offering consultation.

“A family is the nucleus of the society, but the challenges and pressures faced by families in our Arab societies had affected the structure, values and the way of life of the family, as well the relations between its members,” he said, stressing that globalisation and information revolution are threatening the national and cultural indentity of Arab families.

Dr Mohammed Naji, Head of the Disability and Rehabilitation at the Arab League, hailed in a speech on behalf of the Secretariat-General of the Arab League, the efforts of the UAE in organising the training course and stressed on the need to help families in raising balanced generations. He briefed the participants on the objectives and subjects of the course which is being organised jointly by the ministry and the Arab League for a number of social workers representing ministries and bodies concerned with family issues in the Arab world.
