Ahmed Gayed, an expert at the General Department of Electronic Service of the Dubai Police, told Khaleej Times that these certificates are available by applying on-line after filling the application form and the payment of fees.

He said: Those who have obtained pervious certificates of good conduct are not required to go to the police section for taking finger prints or to receive the certificate.

“The new service includes a delivery service against a nominal fee. However those who need to get the certificate for the first time, should visit the General Department of Criminal Investigation for finger prints. The certificate will be sent to his or her address.”

Other new services include the issue of car clearance certificates from the various emirates which are given to those wanting to sell their vehicles.

The customers can get these certificates by applying on-line. The new services include a programme for retired police staff to provide them with information and benefits from those who have experience in training and delivering lectures to other police staff members.

Also at the exhibition, Dubai Police announced the launch of a new web site for the Dubai Police Academy which provides services and information to their academy students.

Another feature comes from the Electronic Crime Department of the Dubai Police which has come out with a new information security protection programme to fight serious crimes including fraud and embezzlement, threats, e-mail theft and other activities on the net that affect the lives of people.

Khalifa Mohammed of Electronic Crime Section said that the department arrests ‘electronic’ criminals by setting up traps.

“The information security protection programme will provide advice to people not to write their personal account at the internet cafes which may include programmes that might copy the pin and the password,” he said.

More new services would include revising radar photos, enquiry about traffic violations and traffic fines through the Internet.

He said that the Dubai Police pavilion at Gitex has an innovative design and features hi-tech products.

Dubai Police provides 176 electronic services to the public through the Dubai Police web site.

A smart early alarm against fire system, lift defaults, shortage in water tanks, gas leakages are the other highlights of the services offered by the police.

Lieutenant Amir Ahmed Al Dibssi from the Operations Room of the Dubai Civil Defence said: “People can fill the application form which includes full information about the building which they need to cover by the smart alarm system.

“A Dubai Civil Defence official will visit the building and make an assessment before determining the requirements.

“The Civil Defence will install the new smart alarm device and link it to the Operation Room of the Dubai Civil Defence.

“Also, the Dubai Civil Defence will announce the establishment of a training institute for fire fighting operations for companies.

The staff after their training will be able to deal better with a fire fighting situation before the arrival of Civil Defence fire fighting team.
