The Good Shepherd Finishing School in Ootacamund, Tamil Nadu was started by Dr P C Thomas, its Founder and President, and Elsamma Thomas, its Co-Founder.
The sessions included in the curriculum is focused towards the objective of the school, 'Give us a girl and take back a lady'.
Girls between the ages of 16 and 30 (relaxable), with minimum educational qualification of grade 10, 12 or any equivalent examination based on the chosen programme, are eligible for admission. Accommodation is provided on a twin-sharing basis in well-furnished villas.
Many of the food ingredients are grown in the Shepherd's farm and the menu includes north Indian, south Indian, Jain, Thai, Chinese and Continental, vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. Other facilities include yoga and dance hall, gym, an advanced training kitchen, beauty parlour/laboratory, music studio, computer lab, etc.
The school offers three programmes - nine-month, three-month and a six-week course. The nine-month programme covers certifications in business English, French, diploma in fashion design, Trinity Guildhall exam in music (theory) and the Duke of Edinburgh award programme.
The other two programmes cover subjects including effective communication, public speaking, fashion design, beauty therapy, yoga, swimming, horse riding, flower arrangement, event management, etc.
