Visitors to Jumeirah-3 Beach can relax close to the sea thanks to the Happiness Platform launched by Dubai Municipality (DM).
Coinciding with the World Happiness Day celebrations, the municipality launched the 125-metre long platform at an area of 625 square metres for residents to have their favourite recreational activities in a happy atmosphere.
The platform is also suitable for the people of determination and the elderly also.
Alia Al Harmoudi, director of environment department at the DM, said: "The Happiness Platform will attract a large number of visitors who wish to have fun with their families away from the hustle and bustle of the city, to enjoy reading, fishing or relaxing close to the sea. This will also encourage tourism in the area."
She added: "To encourage the community to read, a beach library has been provided at the platform to allow the public to enjoy reading in a distinctive atmosphere. The library is equipped with books that suit all ages and interests."
Multi-coloured seats are available to facilitate recreational fishing in a pleasant atmosphere.
"The platform is equipped with environment-friendly solar-powered lighting poles so that the public can visit the platform at any time. A paved walkway has also been provided from the parking area to the happiness platform."
The municipality had also provided special walkways for the people of determination and the elderly in other public beaches in the emirate such as the Al Mamzar Creek Beach, Al Mamzar Corniche Beach, Jumeirah-3 Beach and Umm Suqeim Beach.
Beach libraries are also made available on the public beaches of Al Mamzar Corniche Beach, Jumeirah Beach and Umm Suqeim Beach.
Al Harmoudi said the integrated beach safety system provided on Dubai beaches consisted of a team of 100 trained lifeguards and rescue stations, and devices used for rescue and first-aid.
Al Harmoudi urged visitors to adhere to the beach regulations, which are explained on the beach sign boards.
