Hard Rock gets new strings of life — much bigger ones

DUBAI — It’s music to the ears of ‘Hard Rockers’ in the city as the cafe, immortalised by its larger-than-life twin iconic guitars, is back with a bigger bang and set to unveil the world’s largest guitar at its new venue in October.

After its grand presence for 11 years on Shaikh Zayed Road, Hard Rock Cafe has relocated its rock and roll themed dining and entertainment joint to the Festival Centre.

The cafe closed in March last year and owners had expressed their dilemma on shifting the guitars to a new venue, much to the disappointment of regular visitors.

But as those guitars, the core element of Hard Rock’s ambience, fade into memory, owners aim to replenish the association with the installation of a 118-foot guitar that will be flown down from the US, vying for a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Recreating the musical magic that drew the city’s socialites, the 26,400
sq feet cafe will have a live music space, a Rock Shop with Hard Rock’s limited-edition merchandise, and memorabilia from its legendary collection.
