Haven't paid traffic fines yet? Here's some good news

Ras Al Khaimah - The discount scheme is effective on the traffic violations committed before December 31, 2014.

As part of the Ras Al Khaimah Police's celebration of the 45th UAE National Day, a 50 per cent discount on traffic fines has been announced. The discount scheme is effective on the traffic violations committed before December 31, 2014.
The two-month scheme will take effect from November 1 to December 31, according to Major-General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the RAK Police.
"The move is meant to bring happiness to the public, ease their financial burdens, help them renew their registration cards, and give them a chance to better observe traffic regulations.

Traffic violations recorded after December 31, 2014, will come under another scheme put in place by the police, where the earlier you pay, the lesser your fine will be, Maj-Gen Al Nuaimi pointed out. "As per this scheme, a driver will be entitled to a 50 per cent discount on radar-based fines in case he or she pays it within 50 days of committing the violation."
Should the driver pays the fine between the 51st and 80th day of having committed the violation, he/she will get a 30 per cent discount. From the 81st day, the motorist will need to pay the fine in full, Maj-Gen Al Nuaimi underlined.
However, only the drivers caught by radars on the emirate's roads would be eligible for the discount. All fines imposed due to other traffic violations, particularly those posing a risk to road users' life and end in impoundment are excluded, he warned. "Driving at more than 160km/h, jumping red signal, racing, over-tinting car windows and other offences are not included in the discount."

As per a tougher unified traffic law with higher fines and a black points system enacted in 2008 all over the UAE, erring motorists are penalised with up to 24 black points, following which they lose their driving licence.
Reckless driving costs a motorist Dh2,000, 12 black points, as well as the impoundment of the vehicle for 30 days. Not carrying a driving licence or using a horn in a disturbing way draws a fine of Dh100.
The discount scheme has been integrated in the unified federal traffic system across the country, he stated.
