Dr Issa Salim, Consultant at Rashid Hospital for Complementary Medicine, who had won the creative employee award, was also honoured. Dr Salim was instrumental in the opening of the first bioresonance clinic in the Middle East in 2002. “The clinic is the only one of its kind in the Middle East region. Today, we receive patients from Europe, America as well as the GCC. Rashid Hospital is the only hospital in the government sector across the Middle East offering bioresonance treatment,” said Dr Salim.

The centre has received over 5,000 patients and has now become a point of international reference with regard to treatment in this field. It provides several specialised treatment options including blood frequency analysis and treatment for pregnant mothers. “Also, after eight years of hard work, we have finally received patent rights from the USA for six of our subjects and it is a proof that Dubai is a step further in terms of medicine in the region,” added Dr Salim.

Amal Al Shamlan, who joined the head of Rehabilitation Section at Al Wasl Hospital in 2002, was another employee felicitated for winning distinguished government employee award. She had been involved in transforming the lives of several patients over the years through physiotherapy and rehabilitative work.

During her tenure, she successfully implemented many programmes and policies that have led to the development of the department and have enhanced the quality of services provided. Major achievements of the rehabilitation section include development of new services and systems to reflect the multi-disciplinary rehabilitation approach.

Al Shamlan said: “I have worked to provide new services such as physiological evaluation, screening of neonatal motor development, the only kind of service in the country. We also introduced the sensory integration therapy, which made Al Wasl Hospital the first government hospital providing this treatment. I also helped in the establishment of various communication channels and established a support group.”

Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid, Director-General of the DHA, said: “The DGEP award is a prestigious recognition as it encourages innovation and excellence in all fields. We are honoured that our employees have received this award and we shall strive to achieve further success in the future. At the DHA, it is our constant endeavour to better our services and we foster a culture of innovation and efficiency to enhance our services and provide the very best in health and healthcare to our population.”

The DHA employees won the awards at the 14th edition of the Dubai Government Excellence Programme Award, which was held in the presence of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
