The health insurance policy for the emirate of Dubai has been approved and implementation will be done as soon as the Medical Insurance Law is passed, Dubai Health Authority (DHA) director general Essa Al Maidoor told Khaleej Times in an exclusive interview.
Al Maidoor said about a million people in Dubai already had some form of medical insurance — which accounts for about 30 per cent of the population. “We have a plan that within three years we will transfer from (a) partly insured to a 100 per cent insured society.”
The health authority was currently liasing with stakeholders and partners so that all are on board when the law is passed. “We have formed a committee with the insurance companies — at least 40 companies — that will deal with health insurance,” he said.
