DUBAI — The Ministry of Health obtained three awards in the field of health media as part of the GCC Health Media Excellence Award that was held during the 70th GCC Health Ministers Meeting in Doha, Qatar, under the title “Healthy Lifestyles”.
Abdullah bin Khalid Al Qahtani, Public Health Minister and Secretary-General for Health Supreme Council in Qatar; Dr Tawfiq Khoja, Executive Director, GCC Health Ministers Board; and Dr Fahd Al Tayash, Chairman, Board of Directors of Al Dar Public Relations, distributed the awards at a special ceremony.
The award valued 50,000 US dollars is supported by Al Dar Public Relations as well as several individuals representing the health media and information field.
Dr Mahmood Fikri, Assistant Undersecretary for Health Policies at the Ministry of Health, said: “The ministry won the second prize for short story, third prize for TV ads and second prize for radio business with a total number of 109 works. About 37 works were excluded of 72.”
He stated that the GCC Health Media Excellence Award is the first of its kind in the Middle East which aims for encouraging creativity and innovation among the employees who are working in the field of health media and information, attracting public and private media organisations to participate in the production of health awareness materials and highlighting the pioneering efforts and initiatives working in this field to enhance the health of the GCC community members.
Dr Tawfiq Khoja said the initiative of the GCC Health Ministers Board is a leading and exquisite model as it enhances both health awareness and education field among the members of the society. —
