Following the heavy downpour, which continued for a short time, streets, roundabouts and low-lying areas were flooded with water.

When the rains posed a threat to a number of houses located at the foot of the mountains, the residents changed the course of the streams from the mountains to open areas and valleys. Some houses in Shabiat Al Seeji at the foot of the mountains, however, were damaged in the rains.

Obaid Khalifa Al Tinaji, whose furniture was damaged in the rainwater, sought the assistance of some workers to put up sandbag barricades to divert the course of the water.

Other areas affected by the rains included Sharam, where the houses are located just a few metres from the seashore.

When the rain stopped, many people and visitors to the Eastern Coast went out to the valleys and gorges to enjoy the pleasant weather.

The rain, which began at 12 noon, also caused landslides, bringing down huge boulders which cut off the unpaved roads leading to a school in the mountains. A similar situation was seen on Thursday when it rained in the area.

The day began with a clear sky and sun beaming down the mountains, but it changed in a short while. By noon, the sky was overcast, and a drizzle began, which soon gained momentum.
