Speaking to Khaleej Times while giving details of the recent meeting of the ministry’s committee on tenders and bids, Naser Khalifa Al Badour, Assistant Under-Secretary of External Relations and World Health and head of Tenders and Bids Committee at MoH, said that the minister asked the committee to pay weekly visits to hospitals and health centres to check availability of medicines.
The minister of health, said Al Badour, has asked the committee to resolve all problems related to supply of medicines whether inside the country or outside it. He also said that the minister has asked the committee to provide hospitals with medicines regardless of their price, country of origin or producer. “But medicines will be imported for local use only if they fall within our budget,” said Al Badour. He assured that the health of UAE nationals and residents was the main priority of the ministry.
Al Badour informed that during a meeting, the minister reviewed several proposals presented by the medicine companies. He also said that MoH was reconsidering the incentives offered by the ministry to urge the UAE nationals to join jobs related to medicine.
