Host of activities planned for Afforestation Week

AJMAN — The Grand Park of the Ajman Elderly Welfare Home will be inaugurated by Shaikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Ajman Department of Municipality and Planning, as part of the activities scheduled for the Afforestation Week which will be held from March 5 to March 7. The civic body will be joined by municipalities from various emirates in observing the Plantation Week, with an emphasis on new activities aimed at educating the public on various objectives of afforestation.

The mission of covering 10 per cent of Ajman’s area with greenery is also reiterated as a strategic objective.

The week-long activities will also feature lectures on the importance of landscaping and greenery in schools, distribution of publications and pamphlets among public and also giving away gifts and flowers to children and patients in Khalifa Hospital.

Saif Salim Al Shamsi, Deputy Director-General of the Ajman Municipality, said several beautification projects are being conducted by the Agriculture Section of the municipality at various sites in the emirate.
