A huge fire broke out in two warehouses in Al Mina area of Abu Dhabi on Friday.
The fire broke out in the morning between 9am and 10am, according to an Abu Dhabi Civil Defence operation official. As many as seven fire engines were pressed into service. The reason for the fire remains unknown.
Lt. Colonel Mohammed Abdul Jalil Al Ansari, Director-General of Civil Defence, said the Civil Defence and Rapid Intervention teams rushed to the scene upon receiving reports from the Operation Room about the fire. One of the warehouse belonged to a printing firm.
"One is printing stationery warehouse. It had lot of cartons, paper materials and stuffs. All of them are destroyed," the official said.
The second warehouse has lot of offices, another official said.
"We don't know the cause of the fire but thankfully it's a Friday. There were three or four offices too. Being a holiday, there was no staff here," the official added.
