Organised by the Higher National Committee for Breast Cancer, under the honorary chairmanship of Shaikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairperson of the UAE General Women’s Union, the 5km marathon in Abu Dhabi kicked off from the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and ended up at the Emirates Palace. The procession aimed to increase awareness of the public about early detection of breast cancer and the high chances of survival when the disease is discovered at early stages. It was held on the sidelines of the month-long National Breast Cancer Campaign.

In Dubai the ‘Pink Parade’ was held on Mamzar Beach. Dr Ahmed Al Hashmi, Head of Dubai Medical District, led the walk. Similar processions were also taken out in Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain.
