Creative Education Services (CES) and Muslim Educational Society (MES) will organise a literary event 'Read Today, Lead Tomorrow' at the Indian Social and Cultural Centre on Sunday.
The event, held under the patronage of the Ministry of Finance, is in support of the UAE government's celebration of 2016 as the year of reading.
Shashi Tharoor, Member of Parliament from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, will be the keynote speaker on the day.
"Tharoor will also hold an interactive session with students from five schools," CES managing director KK Ashraf said at a press conference on Wednesday evening.
"In our schools, we practice one motto - DEAR - Drop Everything And Read. This is the only way to gain knowledge and achieve success in life," he said. The event will be inaugurated by Younis Haji Khoory, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Finance according to MES's UAE vice-president Shafi PP.
International educational consultant David Williams said he hadn't heard about Tharoor until an event he attended in Kerala. "It was only after I heard his speech that I realised what a gem he is," Williams said. "His Oxford Union speech was impressive and all of us are eagerly looking forward to his session with students and keynote address."
