Renowned and popular poets like Manzar Bhopali from India as well as Tariq Subzwari and Professor Enayet Ali Khan from Pakistan would be taking part in the poetry evenings on August 18 and 19 in Sharjah and August 25 in Abu Dhabi.
Bhopali is famous for his heart-touching verses and poems on social and political issues of the subcontinent. Tariq is known for his soft, sweet, silky and romantic poetry and Enayet Ali Khan is celebrated for his versatile rib-tickling work linked with current affairs.
The poetry evenings are expected to promote friendship and increase contacts between Indian and Pakistani poetry lovers living in UAE.
The event is being organised by Aslam Siddiqui, Rafat Alavi and Mahmood Siddiqui. The co-sponsors are Nasir Akram, Secretary-General of Emirate Cricket Board and Muzammal Ahmed Khan of Delhi Nihari Restaurant.
Meanwhile, Anjuman Mohiban Urdu Dubai is holding a grand Indo-Pak mushaira at the Taj Hyderabad Hotel, Dubai at 8pm on August 15, in which poets from the two countries are scheduled to participate. Interested poets have been requested to contact the organisers.
