Speaking to Khaleej Times, the DTC Director-General, Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla said that the buses will be repainted in beige and white colours while the identity of both the corporations will also be displayed prominently on the vehicles.

“The logos of both the corporations will also be displayed alongside each other on the sides of the buses,” he said.

At present, 50 DTC buses are operating between the two emirates, while nearly 600,000 passengers have been moved from one emirate to the other since the launch of the service in January to September-end.

Mulla also said that the step was taken to promote bus service within the emirates as well as to lessen traffic jams between Sharjah and Dubai.

“Once the bus service is sufficiently promoted, people will resort to using it and, thereby, lessen the traffic jams on the roads,” he explained.

He also said that a positive feedback had been received from the public and there was a demand to increase the routes.

In this regard, a deal was signed between Ali Al Hamrani, Director-General of Ajman Municipality, and Obaid Mohammed Al Mulla, Director-General of DTC, on Wednesday to establish a bus line to transport passengers between Ajman and Dubai.

Mulla said that the service, due to its popularity, would also be expanded to Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah, Dibba, Al Dhaid and Kalba.

“DTC is willing to co-operate and co-ordinate with emirates to achieve high levels of quality transportation between the emirates,” he said.

Elaborating, Mulla said that the inter-emirate transportation service was comfortable and safe and was readily available

“The bus travelling from Sharjah to Dubai is available after one hour. So, what other mode of transport is convenient, cheap and a luxurious way of travelling between both emirates,” he added.
