A cultural organisation formed in memory of the late Malayalam poet, ONV Kurup, will give away its first international poet award on February 17 in Dubai.
The ONV Foundation will also honour the best Malayalam young poet of the year during the cultural event to be held at the Indian Consulate Hall.
The best international poet award will be given to a promising poet based on his/her contribution to world poetry. Eminent personalities from Arab and Malayalam literary world will attend the award function.
Emirati poet Dr Shihab M. Ghanem will inaugurate a poetry workshop as part of the event. Seminars, competition on recitation of ONV Kurup's poems, music and dance programme based on his drama songs and movie songs also will be held.
Filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan, authors Prof. V. Madhusoodanan Nair, Alankode Leelakrishnan, Dr George Onakkoor and others will attend the event.
