e-TQM College is working under the umbrella of Dubai Police to increase awareness of quality standards among professionals and learners in the region.
"e-TQM's initiative to network its services through IP telephony showcases our vision of offering quality services using the latest technologies. This system enables e-TQM College to attain its goals of reducing costs and increasing effectiveness by moving from legacy private branch exchange (PBX) to Cisco IP Communications. We can now offer a secure and fully integrated network of all the college services, right from human resources and finance to student records through the telephone," said Dr. Mansoor Al Awar , Director of e-TQM college
"We hope that this facility will encourage more people to take up our programmes and benefit from them. The increased employee mobility and deployment of advanced, feature-rich services and solutions will benefit both the student and teaching community. Now a phone call is all it will take to enable direct interaction with e-TQM College. Right from course content, seminars and events to admission criteria can be accessed through a simple telephone call," said Dr Al Awar.
Speaking about the system Ghazi Atallah, General Manager at Cisco Middle East said; "It is our pleasure to be associated with this path-breaking effort. This is the first government organisation in Dubai to implement this system. The system is totally secure using PIX firewall 525 and Cisco secure for wireless authentication and is capable of future enhancements which will include wireless phones making this network totally mobile."
"We have been implementing many IP telephony projects, but this one was a real challenge. This is the first time in Middle East that a virtual network of such a large scale has been created. By converging its voice and data networks, e-TQM College can lower their total cost of ownership including equipment and network carrier charges. This will mean higher quality service at lower costs," said Haythem Kamel, General Manager, Dubai & Northern Emirates, Emirates Computers.
