It is duty of Muslims to read Quran and understand it

Read the Holy Quran with the intention of being guided and it will guide you.

The most that one can do is to blame oneself for misunderstanding the Quran's meaning, to re-examine one's own thought-process.

Ramadan is also the month of Quran as this is the month when the holy book was revealed therefore one must increasingly recite the Holy Quran which is a source of infinite blessings.
If you truly want to benefit from the Quran, your heart must be attentive and alert when reciting it or listening to it. Listen to it carefully as it is the word of Allah Himself and not of any human. It was revealed over a period of twenty-three years to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and is the direct speech of God. This is why it is an intact revelation that is free of the ups and downs of a world chained by its fickle values of time and space.
It, therefore, guides mankind by providing them with a criterion between truth and falsehood and thereafter gives glad tidings to those who successfully adhere to it.
Here is a basic difference between the Quran and any other book. For in the case of other books one can, when in disagreement with the sentiments or thoughts expressed therein, believe them to be the errors of a human being. But in the case of the Quran, no such recourse is possible. The most that one can do is to blame oneself for misunderstanding the Quran's meaning, to re-examine one's own thought-process.
It is the duty of every Muslim to read the Quran and understand it according to his own capacity. If any one of us attains some knowledge or understanding of it by study, contemplation, and experience, then it is our duty to instruct others and share with them the joy and peace we have found.
Read the Holy Quran with the intention of being guided and it will guide you. Read it not only with tongue, voice and eyes but with a pure intention in your heart to benefit out of its guidance.
Every earnest and reverent student of the Holy Quran, as he proceeds with his study, will find an inward joy difficult to describe. The more you will read it, dwell and ponder upon it the more you will understand it on a deeper level. In other words, it will enhance your capacity for understanding. It is like a traveler climbing a mountain, the higher he goes, the farther he sees.
How much greater is the joy and the sense of wonder and miracle when the Quran opens our spiritual eyes. Our level of understanding matures and expands. Not only will understanding and imbibing the values of the Holy Quran save us in the hereafter but will also enhance our intellectual abilities and life skills.
The exclusive eloquence of the Holy Quran, the inimitable quality, the scientific facts mentioned in it 1,400 years ago from now, the accuracy of the historical records, all are pointers that it is indeed the book of God.
