It’s carnival time in Dubai

The Dubai Carnivals consist of two segments — Scenes of the World Festival, which commenced on December 20, and, Street Performances starting on December 26.

Street Performances, one among the major attractions in this year’s DSF features 40 international performers comprising jugglers, clowns, acrobats, painters, comedians, and musicians.

The artistes hail from Europe, Middle East, and Asia and bring with them years of experience performing around the world. The street performances start on December 26 and will be held at various venues that include the Global Village, Madinat Jumeirah, and the Al Seef Street.

The Scenes of the World Festival, part of the Dubai Carnivals, showcases the different scenes of celebrations held across the globe. The Rio de Janeiro carnival and the carnivals of Venice, New Orleans, and those from Africa, China, and Australia have been brought to Dubai to highlight the theme of oneness among nations and people. The Scenes of the World Festival started on December 20 and will continue till the end of DSF.

The festival is divided into two parts - workshops and carnivals. The workshops are on now where visitors will have a glimpse of how the carnival floats are actually built. The workshops run till December 30 after which the carnivals will start.

The carnivals will begin on December 31 and go on till the February 2, 2007. The Scenes of the World Festival will bring with it the colours, sounds, and celebrations from the best carnivals in the world. Visitors get the opportunity to watch the celebrations from up close since the festival will be held on the streets of Dubai, shopping malls, and parks.

The venues for the Scenes of the World Festival have been rightly chosen to portray the energy and the gaiety of the carnivals. As the floats move slowly on the streets, viewers have the chance to participate in the celebration.

The Dubai Carnivals is not to be missed and will figure as one of the star attractions during the shopping festival.
