He has also been fined Dh1,000.
The 37-year-old Bangladeshi worker, identified as Belal Miyah, was accused by a Pakistani taxi driver, Ali Wali Khan, of cheating.
Khan alleged that Belal boarded his taxi in Fujairah saying that he had to pick up Dh6,000 and some items from his home.
On the way, Belal asked him to stop at a shopping centre to buy some items. He borrowed Dh1,500 from Khan and promised to pay him on reaching the destination. But on reaching the destination, Belal pretended to be going to his house and vanished.
The driver waited for a long time, but he did not return. He then lodged a complaint with the police.
On his arrest, Belal was found to have been living in the country illegally.
