Khalifa orders $300m aid to Morocco

CASABLANCA — The President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has decided to grant a financial aid of $300 million to Morocco, to help ease the impact of rising energy prices in the kingdom, a statement by the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, said yesterday.

Shaikh Khalifa’s decision reflects the strong bonds between the two countries.

King Mohammed VI received yesterday Energy Minister Mohammed bin Dhaen Al Hameli, in presence of Salem Saeed Al Manssouri, UAE’s acting Charge d’ Affaires in Rabat.

Al Hameli conveyed to King Mohammed greetings of President Shaikh Khalifa, Vice-president and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

In a statement made to Wam, Al Hameli said he delivered a letter from Shaikh Khalifa to the King of Morocco, dealing with ways to enhance bilateral relations in all fields.

He reiterated Shaikh Khalifa’s keenness to strengthen cooperation between the two brotherly countries.
