Khalifa receives condolences on passing away of Shaikh Ahmed

ABU DHABI - Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received at Al Mushref Palace here yesterday a large number of people who had come to offer condolences on the passing away of Shaikh Ahmed bin Mubarak bin Mohammed Al Nahyan.

Those who offered condolences included Their Highnesses Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of emirates, Shaikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi of Ras Al Khaimah and Shaikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi of Ajman; Shaikh Khalid bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah; Shaikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman; and Shaikh Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, Deputy Ruler of Fujairah, other Shaikhs, ministers, senior officials, members of the diplomatic corps and nationals and expatriates.

Shaikh Khalifa also received condolences from the Special Assistant to the Iranian President on Legal Affairs, Mohammed Al Abtahi, who is currently on a visit to the UAE. He was accompanied by Iranian Ambassador Ali Reza Salari.

They all expressed profound condolences to Shaikh Khalifa and prayed to Allah the Almighty to grant perfect peace to the departed soul and strength and patience to his family to bear the loss.

Shaikh Khalifa was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Saeed Mohammed Al Kindi, Speaker of the Federal National Council; Lt-Gen. Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces; Shaikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Shaikh Mubarak bin Mohammed Al Nahyan; Shaikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler's Representative in the Eastern Region and Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council; and other sons of Shaikh Zayed.

Shaikh Khalifa also received Qatar's Foreign Minister Shaikh Jasim bin Jabor Al Thani who was accompanied by Oil Minister Abdullah bin Hamad Al Atiyya and Qatari Ambassador Abdullah Mohammed Al Othman, who offered condolences on the death of Shaikh Ahmed.

They prayed to Allah to grant the soul of the deceased perfect peace and his family patience to bear the loss.

Shaikh Jasim conveyed to the UAE government and people condolences of the government and people of Qatar.

Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, received condolences from a number of Shaikhs, ministers, senior officials and a large number of citizens and expatriates on the death of Shaikh Ahmed.

Condolences were also received by Shaikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Civil Aviation Department.

The Presidential Court issued a statement on Thursday night mourning the passing away of Shaikh Ahmed.
