Research has revealed a new risk factor for cardiovascular disease that is raising concerns over heart health. Vascular Ageing is a determinant factor and modifiable risk factor that is consistent with inflammation, and requires targeted intervention in order to reverse the vicious cycle. Catering to this is King's College Hospital London, Dubai, with its newly opened Preventive Cardiovascular Wellness Centre. The hospital implements high-end protocols used in facilities across the US, such as the Cardiovascular Care Centre clinics in Texas, in order to improve conditions. The process involves the use of IV Glutathione and Vitamin C, which have shown significant benefits in decreasing inflammatory markers, thereby reducing risks of heart attack and stroke, while stabilising the intra-arterial atherosclerotic plaque.

According to research and studies across multiple universities, natural therapy with high doses of intravenous Glutathione enhancers and Vitamin C have shown significant benefits in the decrease of oxidative stress. This is why King's College Hospital London, Dubai offers a regimen of oral supplementation with enhancers of Glutathione production, alongside IV therapy for better results. A renewed approach towards lifestyle attitudes, which includes attention to calorie intake and exercise, also play an effective role in overcoming defective antioxidant response and inflammation.

Vascular inflammation, associated with diabetes, insulin resistance and cardiovascular disease, is currently heightened due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, and this has noted a rise in vascular thrombosis with increased incidences of small vessel disease, myocarditis and pulmonaryembolism, and stroke. In response, the King's College Hospital London, Dubai has established a Post-Covid Care Centre to address this in totality.

Taking another step towards fortified protection is the External Counter Pulsation (EECP) Therapy offered at the hospital. This is a valuable therapeutic option for patients with coronary artery disease, and the mechanism of action by this technique, which produces favourable results, can now be offered to even the "30-plus" generation as a viable option for the prevention and treatment of endothelial dysfunction, which in turn diminishes vascular ageing.

Developed at Harvard in the early 1950s to enhance the development of coronary collateral circulation, EECP has proven its effectiveness through multiple clinical trials in peer-reviewed journals, such as the New England Journal of Medicine and the Journal American College of Cardiology, and reap benefits to not only vascular disease patients, but also to healthy subjects, such as athletes in the area of exercise recovery.

The mechanical increase of oxygenated blood flow with EECP has documented improvements in individuals with coronary artery disease and diabetes, as well as those suffering from erectile dysfunction, Alzheimer's disease and peripheral vascular disease. The treatment is especially beneficial for athletes as it shows significant improvement in the clearance of lactic acidosis, which increases their performance and shortens recovery time after exercise. EECP has also demonstrated improved recovery from sports injuries and enhances rehabilitation.

King's College Hospital Dubai is now offering a 30 per cent discount on comprehensive cardiac packages until December 31, 2020, in celebration of World Heart Day.
