Lady luck smiles at newcomer

DUBAI - Marnie Frances Georgiades, a Canadian, won the Mitsubishi Pajero in the Dubai Shopping Malls Group ‘Win A Dream’ raffle barely five weeks after moving to Dubai to run a new restaurant here.

Marnie and her husband, Phebus, moved to Dubai on July 3 to open a new South African restaurant. In the last week, they went shopping to Deira City Centre, BurJuman Centre, Wafi and Al Ghurair to buy furniture and other household items for their new home, picking up 500 tickets to the DSMG raffle between them.

The DSMG raffle, which offers Mitsubishi Pajeros and Paris Gallery vouchers every week and a grand raffle prize of a dream home at the Jumeirah Beach Residence at the end of the DSS 2004, is currently offering a special Accession Day promotion where customers will receive a draw entry coupon for every Dh100 purchase instead of the draw’s regular Dh200 purchase qualifier. The Georgiadeses made all their purchases during the Accession Day promotion, and could not believe their luck when informed of their win.

“I’m thrilled, it’s almost unbelievable that we would win this especially because we’ve only been here for a short time,” said Marnie. “It’s a great sign for us as we start our lives in Dubai.”
