Little angels spread message of peace

DUBAI — Students from six schools in Dubai took part in an exhibition at the Dubai Theatre and Art Centre in the Mall of the Emirates as part of the World Peace Day celebrations.

The participating schools were Zayed bin Sultan School, Salma School, Jumeirah School, Al Khansa Elementary School, National School of Dubai, and Ahmed Bin Sulayyem School.

The participating students, in the age group of 10 to 14, presented their works, including oil paintings, multimedia tools in art pieces, including newspaper clippings as well as other materials to highlight the miseries and suffering that wars result in.

Taha Al Hamri, acting director of Administrative Services Unit, Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), praised the works presented by the students on the occasion.

“This is the generation that will build the future of Dubai. A multi-cultural city such as Dubai is the ideal place to spread the message of peace,” Al Hamri pointed out.

Dr Debra McDonald, an educational consultant, said, “One cannot but admire the efforts made by the students. They may be young at age but big at heart.”

She expressed her regret that while the entire world celebrated World Peace Day, wars and violence continued to rage on in the world.

The exhibition was attended by officials from the KHDA and parents of the participating students.

The exhibition was organised by the Native Agency, Strategic Marketing Consultancy, in cooperation with Al Maktoum Institute for Arabic and Islamic Studies in Dondy, Scotland.
