Lovable friends and a city full of surprises

DUBAI - Children enjoy meeting their cartoon friends around the city; Characters themselves marvel at the fun and frolic in summer.

Cartoon characters are considered among the best friends of children during Dubai Summer Surprises 2004, with Modhesh leading the pack in being most lovable. All these characters come together in adding to the atmosphere of fun during the event, livening up the summers of the children.

Laila Suhail, Project Director, Dubai Summer Surprises, said: "All the cartoon characters have a real effect on kids, as the children seem to take on many characteristics of their favourite characters in the things they do on a daily basis. Cartoons help young minds identify between good and evil. These characters teach children exactly what they would learn at school or home and, based on this, DSS picked the most popular characters to act out good vs. evil scenarios where good beats evil. By showcasing these characters to be skilful and smart, children would be encouraged to use their talents."

The characters have gone on record to say that they enjoy participating in this event, and know that they are making a big difference to young lives with their funny movements, and entertaining acts. Some of the more well known characters are Popeye & Olive Oyle, Snow White & the Seven Dwarves, Pink Panther and the daredevil racers Lets & Go.

Visitors to Modhesh Fun City are able to meet and talk with characters as well as take pictures with their favourite cartoons. Modhesh's own city has actually evolved to be the hot spot of DSS activity, and the place has seen huge changes over the years. The primary fact remains, though, that one is able to see happiness on children's faces of all ages and nationalities. They come to talk to Modhesh, his other cartoon friends and to take pictures with as many of them as possible.

Modhesh waits eagerly every year for DSS with anticipation to meet and greet his friends & offer them whatever is fun. Modhesh said, "I love my friends, and that's why I go to every single centre that hosts all the events, so I can play with them in different competitions, and encourage them so they can be really happy that they won." Modhesh is very happy when he sees children holding anything that has his picture and his toys. They keep running to the Modhesh store in the various centres. Modhesh promises that he will come back every year during the school holidays to help kids enjoy their vacation.

The amazing race drivers, the heroes of the Lets & Go series expressed their happiness at being at Modhesh Fun City and enjoying with children this year too. Lets expressed his happiness that kids are visiting the Lets & Go zone and said, "We are so happy that there are so many kids who enter the car races daily, use their skills and win."
