Lulu Group International, the fastest growing UAE-based retail chain, has handed over a Dh467,271 ($127,228) cheque donation to Dubai Cares at its headquarters in Dubai, which was raised through a charity campaign organized during the Holy month of Ramadan this year.
The fundraising campaign, which was organized in partnership with Dubai Cares, invited customers to donate Dh1 or more at checkout across its Hypermarkets in the UAE, in an effort to raise funds for Dubai Cares' Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) in Schools programs in developing countries. This funding will ensure the provision of basic low-cost water and sanitation infrastructure that is essential for a healthy, hygienic and safe learning environment in developing countries.
The cheque handover was made by Salim M.A. Director of LuLu Group International to Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer at Dubai Cares.
Speaking about the generous contribution made by Lulu Group International, Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer at Dubai Cares said: "Once again, we are very thankful to Lulu Group International for their support and for choosing to support Dubai Cares' WASH programs. We also appreciate the generosity of Lulu Hypermarket's customers who have collectively raised Dh467,271. Moreover, schools remain a central mechanism to teach lifelong lessons on basic hygiene, nutrition and the environment that help children lead a healthy and balanced life."
Salim M.A. expressed his gratitude to Lulu Hypermarkets' customers for making this fundraising campaign a success. He added, "We are truly strong believers in the transformative power of education and very proud of our support of an extremely vital cause.
