Maktoum orders transportation allowance for nationals

DUBAI — His Highness, Shaikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has issued a decree on the transportation allowance payable to government employees in Dubai.

The 14-article Decree No. 21/2005 stipulates, in Article (2), that a car cash allowance shall be disbursed to national employees working in local Dubai government departments and who occupy posts of department director, his deputy or assistant as well as judiciary and public prosecution staff, from the post of judge to district attorney, and doctors working with the Ministry of Health from the rank of specialist, as follows:

Car allowance in Special Grade Dh300,000; Grade 1, Dh230,000; Grade II, Dh200,000; Grade III , Dh 180,000; and Grade IV, Dh 160,000.

However, the car allowance is payable to those national employees occupying one of the aforementioned grades and who are eligible to such an allowance in accordance with whatever regulations by the department head issued before promulgation of this decree.

Under Article (3) of the decree, the cash allowance is payable every four years for those filling the post of department director and every five years for other posts as mentioned in Article (2).

According to the legislation issued on May 10, an employee shall bear car registration, insurance, service and fuel expenses. Exception to this is fuel expenses of the department director’s car to whom a maximum of Dh1,000 shall be paid monthly.
