The decision was taken by Abduallah Obaid, Director of Ajman Educational Zone, during a visit to the Aiysha bint Abdullah Primary School for Girls yesterday.

He was surprised to learn that three male cleaners had been assigned the job of cleaning the school and issued a circular to all schools prohibiting the presence of any male cleaner at schools for girls.

Meanwhile, Badreea Al Marzooqi, principal of the school, said she was helpless as the cleaning establishment said it had only males. She said the same establishment had provided two female and two male cleaners last year.

The zone’s decision prompted the Dubai educational zone to follow suit. Top ministry officials have hailed the director’s decision. It appears that the reasons behind the decision were the complaints lodged by parents.
