Private medical practitioners in the emirate said yesterday that due to a system malfunction there was a delay in renewal of their licences and for this they were being charged hefty amounts as fines.
“Since the past 15 days, I have been visiting different typing centres in the emirate because I want to get the licence for my clinic renewed, but I have been told constantly that the MoH system is down. When I went to the MoH, I was told that they do not accept any paper manually. They also refused to accept that the delay was due to a MoH system malfunction which had not been taken care of on time,” said a private doctor.
A technician, Mohammed Badr, who was facing the same problem, said that the ministry was imposing a daily fine on delayed payments though it was their fault.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Shaikh Mohammed Saqr Al Qasimi, Director of Sharjah Medical District, said, “The system was not working for a few days due to the replacement of a software, but all work is being carried out manually."
Another representative from the Private Licensing Department, MoH, Sharjah Medical District, also said that the MoH was receiving renewal applications manually, and a receipt was being issued to the applicant. “We are not imposing fines because of the system failure, but we will do so if there is any other reason for the delay,” said the representative.
