Islamabad: Former interior minister Senator Rehman Malik has said that 'partisan and selective' processes of accountability will harm the political process in the country.
Malik said that 'selective accountability' has given rise to the impression of discrimination and political victimisation, while not a single case of victimisation was lodged during the Pakistan People's Party's rule, according to Press statement issued here on Tuesday.
The senator said when it comes to the PPP, cases are referred to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) - which has been turned into 'Anti-PPP Accountability Bureau'. Malik said, "We need to revisit laws to ensure certainty of implementation and not severity of law." He advised the government to give up the policy of political victimisation as the country is in dire need of political unity and stability.
Meanwhile, he expressed great grief and sorrows over the loss of precious lives in earthquake and asked his party workers to actively participate in the relief activities.
