Malls Ready for Eid Rush

DUBAI — Malls in Dubai are all geared up for the twin festive occasions of Eid Al Adha and the 38th UAE National Day. The interiors and outlets are decked up with Eid decorations and UAE flags.

The preparations are in line with the second edition of the Dubai Shopping Festival Office’s ‘Eid in Dubai’ that begins today and will wind up with the National Day celebrations by December 3.

Yousif Mubarak, COO of DSF Office, said, “The DSF Office will be making sure to spread the spirit of Eid and the glory of the UAE’s 38th National Day among locals, expatriates and tourists. Through our carefully planned and chosen events, Dubai will be a first choice destination in the region during the week.”

Dubai Marina Mall

Dubai Marina Mall will entertain its visitors with trainers demonstrating falcon’s abilities. The mall has also arranged several entertainment activities for children.

An Urban Adventure Play Centre, roaming entertainment, face and body painting are among the highlights set to give full excitement to the children. On top of these are paintings and drawings, themed around National Day, by students from Dubai British School, Wellington International School and Regent International School.They will be displayed at the Dome Atrium in the mall.

From Thursday to tomorrow, and from December 2 to 4, the mallis hosting these events to mark the festive mood in line with the cultural heritage of the nation. The falcon shows have been arranged in the trueArabian spirit.

Ian Ferguson, general manager of the mall, said the focus is on community living and ensuring that all visitors have an engaging time. “Eid and UAE National Day are a special time and this year, as they fall close to each other, we decided to ensure that our activities reflect the culture and traditions of the UAE.”

He said the Urban Adventure Play Centre is a series of beams, poles, rope bridges and other climbing structures providing children the opportunity to learn and discover in a safe environment. Participants are secured with harnesses and cables so that they can climb and fall to their heart’s content as they play ‘Tarzan’ style. The playcentre will be held from 2pm to 11pm till December 4.

Mall of the Emirates

At the Mall of the Emirates, Eid Al Adha and National Day will be celebrated with special activities and live entertainment from today to December 2 and its participation in the Eidyat Dubai promotion as part of ‘Eid in Dubai ’.

From Crazy Orchestra Parade, which includes various life-sized instruments parading around the mall, to a giant ball juggling show from renowned artist Gandini featuring juggling with many different sized balls and from a life-sized Giant Robot visiting and interacting with customers to cultural exhibitions and interactive displays, the mall will have a wide range of activities.

A live entertainment showcasing performances of local talents like Desert Heat, the first Emirati group to officially launch into the Hip Hop music scene, and the UAE’s very own break dancing group, Al Ain Boys, will be thereon December 1-2.

Fuad Sharaf, vice-president of the mall, said, “To commemorate the 38th UAE National Day, everything that we’ve lined up from the décor to the activities and entertainment, will echo a spirit of pride and belonging tothis nation.”

The mall will be draped in the colours of the UAE national flag along with 100 flags hoisted around the mall, a 5mX10m flag in the Galleria and 100,000 flags to be distributed to mall visitors.

The mall will have a special book titled ‘The People’s National Day’ placed at the centre of Galleria to give visitors the opportunity to write downtheir thoughts on what the day means to them.

Sharaf said Arabic coffee servings together with falcon displays, henna specialists, tanoura, dabkeh, oud and qanoun players are available to make the mall the place to be in this National Day.
