A 29-year-old man, who returned to using drugs despite receiving treatment from an Abu Dhabi rehabilitation centre, has been jailed for two years.
The Criminal Court of First Instance in Al Ain handed down the jail sentence to the Emirati man after he was found guilty of consuming heroin and tramadol.
Official court documents stated that the man had returned to his family after spending months at a rehabilitation centre.
The Emirati had previously been using drugs, when his wife and relatives took him to the rehab so he could quit. However, a few months after getting out of the rehab, the man rejoined his friends and continued to use heroin and tramadol.
The police arrested him while consuming drugs from the home of his friend in Al Ain. The defendant admitted to consuming drugs during his trial.
