RAS AL KHAIMAH — A 37-year-old Emirati man died after a water tanker rammed into his four-wheel drive on Hallilah Road in the Khor Khoir area of Ras Al Khaimah on Tuesday.
Major Talal Al Shal, Head of the Traffic Section at the Al Rams police station, said the Asian driver of the water tanker lost control over the vehicle after the brakes failed as he was exiting a roundabout and joining the road. The Emirati who was alone in his four-wheel drive tried to avoid the tanker but failed. The tanker crashed into his vehicle.
The police rushed to the scene and extricated the seriously injured Emirati from the mangled vehicle. He died on the way to the hospital.
The Asian tanker driver has been detained and he will be referred to the Public Prosecution.
The accident caused traffic jam on the road for some time.
Major Al Shal urged motorists to drive carefully and strictly follow the traffic rules and regulations to avoid accidents. — ismail@khaleejtimes.com
