The 25-year-old Emirati identified as Ali A was found guilty of killing an African waitress.
The case dates back to June 22 last year when at 5am, Dubai Police were alerted that the body of was found lying on the sand yard of a school in Al Garhoud area. The victim, as per police investigations, proved to be an Ethiopian expatriate, identified only as Maqdolite B. She used to work as a waitress at a hotel, and was in a relationship with the Ali.
The police launched a hunt, and traced Ali in whose vehicle they found the victim’s golden earrings and necklace, her cell phone, and hand bag. Having been confronted with the evidences collected, the convict admitted to the crime.
He said that he had a two-week relationship with the victim, who owed him Dh800. He narrated that on the day of the crime, the victim asked him for an amount of Dh1,300 which she said she wanted to send to her family. He said she told him that she had been fired from her job and that the Dh800 she owed the accused she gave to a friend of hers.
The accused said that he got angry with her because she refused to return his money. He agreed to meet her at night and picked her up in his car. While in the car sitting next to him, he took her by surprise and used the tie she was wearing to strangle her.
