A woman and four men went on trial accused of engaging in prostitution activities and kidnapping a man when he allegedly refused to pay after having sex with the woman.

The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court of First Instance was told how the Asian men beat up the man after abducting him when he failed to pay money to the woman after having sex with her.

Official court documents stated that the victim found the Asian woman on one of the streets in the capital during the evening. The woman agreed to have sex with him in exchange for a sum of money.

And after reportedly having sex in the woman's apartment, the man refused to pay the agreed amount to the woman.

The woman informed the four men, who were also engaged in the prostitution activities and running the brothel, about the customer who refused to pay.

The defendants allegedly convinced the man to pay their money as he had agreed to have paid sex with the woman.

And when he refused, they forced him into a car and took him to an isolated place from where they beat him up demanding for the money.

The victim told prosecutors that the men also threatened to hurt him more if he does pay their money.

The man said he gave the defendants the contact number of his sponsor. And when they phoned him, they asked for Dh1500 to release the victim.

The sponsor, however, informed the police and the men were arrested.

Prosecutors charged the woman with prostitution while the men were charged with kidnap and engaging in prostitution activities.

They all denied the charges when they appeared in court.

The trial was adjourned until May 17.
