According to the police, the deceased, identified as A.A Hameed, had walked just a few metres from the mosque after offering prayers when Zubair attacked him with a knife in front of other worshippers.

Hameed was rushed to Khalifa Hospital but doctors declared him brought dead. He died due to excessive bleeding, the doctors said.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, Brigadier Ali Abdullah Alwan, Director-General of Ajman Police, said, “Once we were notified about the incident, we rushed to the scene and took the victim to the hospital but the man could not be saved. A Criminal Investigation Department CID) team was immediately dispatched to the scene to collect evidence and record statements from eyewitnesses. The culprit was identified and arrested in less than an hour.”

Zubair was working in a factory belonging to the brother of Hameed. During interrogation, Zubair confessed to the crime.

He said Hameed, who was the foreman in the company, had been threatening to cancel his visa.

This angered him and he decided to kill him on Friday.
