The driver of a mini truck who mowed down a woman while trying to abduct her in West Bengal's Hooghly district has been arrested, police said on Sunday.
The incident occurred on Friday night in Chinsurah. The victim, Jayanti Soren, a factory worker, was returning home with co-worker Puja Oraon at the end of their shift.
According to police, the driver and his helper grabbed her arm and tried to pull her inside the vehicle. When she resisted and tried to escape, the driver knocked her down and ran over her.
Puja too suffered injuries in the attack and is being treated.
The police on Saturday night arrested driver Ranjit Baitha, said Superintendent of Police Pravin Tripathi.
