The new centre will provide support and coordination for more than 100 distance-learning MBA students in the region, who are already following MBA programmes with the School. Dubai is MBSW’s third international centre, joining existing centres in Hong Kong and Singapore.

MBSW’s new centre will offer study, library and classroom facilities for students and visiting faculty from MBS, as well as office space for the MBSW regional team, which will coordinate and support all student activities, including teaching sessions by visiting faculty.

Welcoming MBSW to the regional academic community, Dr Ayoub Kazim, Executive Director of Dubai Knowledge Village said, “I believe that this school will contribute to the regional higher educational market in terms of quality of business related programs that will be offered. I strongly believe Manchester Business School Worldwide is a significant addition to our community and I wish the team every success.”

John Hawkins, British Consul General in Dubai, who was present on the occasion stressed on the relationship between the UAE and UK, and more specifically the two cities. “Manchester is strongly associated with its most famous football club, but Manchester Business School is another very powerful international brand to emerge from this city, which is home to the UK’s first ‘super-university’.

Professor Jikyeong Kang, Director of MBA programmes at Manchester Business School, added: “Because our distance-learning programmes lead to precisely the same qualification as our campus-based programmes, maintaining quality is vital. All our faculty who have been to the region have been impressed with the quality of students from the Middle East, who compare very favourably with those at our other international centres and the Manchester campus. With the very strong research base of the university, we believe we can make a contribution to the development of the knowledge society that Dubai is establishing, for the benefit of the whole region.”
