Inaugurating the Manuscripts and Documents Exhibition at the Juma Al Majid Culture and Heritage Centre here yesterday, he said such exhibitions would give today’s generation an opportunity to understand the sacrifices made by our forefathers as they established this great nation.
The exhibition, being held under the patronage of Shaikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain, and in coordination with the Juma Al Majid Culture and Heritage Centre, will end on February 3.
Shaikh Khalid also called on schools to organise field trips for students to visit such exhibitions.
After the inauguration, Shaikh Khalid, accompanied by officials, toured the exhibition and viewed several photographs and documents dated before the union of the emirates.
Present at the inauguration was Ali bin Salih Al Kindi, head of the public relations division at the Juma Al Majid Culture and Heritage Centre, who said that the centre had more than 8,000 original manuscripts and 200,000 copies of manuscripts from around the world, some of which were on display at the exhibition.
