Scheduled to commence on July 3, the Masdar Institute Research Experiences for Undergraduate Students (MI-REUS) programme will run for five weeks and is open to UAE nationals who are university seniors and/or those graduating this year. The deadline for application is June 23.
The MI-REUS summer interns will work closely with Masdar Institute faculty and graduate students to conduct research in energy, environment or sustainability. They will also be given opportunities to explore career and graduate school options through the MI-REUS experiences.
Interns will be provided with university housing, a monthly stipend as well as the chance to gain valuable research and professional experience.
Interested university students need to fill the online application that can be accessed from the Masdar Institute website under the sub-section ‘Outreach Programmes’. Completed applications, identifying the specific project a candidate prefers to work on, need to be submitted with all the necessary documents.

The programme is part of Masdar Institute’s commitment to identify and nurture adequately qualified university students with a penchant for research and innovation,” said Dr Lamya N. Fawwaz, Executive Director of Public Affairs at Masdar Institute.
“Additionally, MI-REUS also offers an ideal opportunity for students from the engineering, IT and science streams to explore the prospects of charting a professional career in the renewable and clean technology industries. We are confident a large number of university students will utilise this summer training at MI for a better future,” she added.
Interns are currently being sought for a number of research projects, including micro-fabrication for amorphous photonics; assessment of the heating value of the different waste stream followed by power plant electric production and balance of the plant; field study of the retrieved wind energy from the installed 3.5KW wind turbine; effect of the fuel/oxidiser mixing and incomplete conversion on the fuel cell performance.
